We didn't stay the whole weekend like in years past but we did get to enjoy the main day of picking and pressing. The apples were slim picking this year due to an early frost and a bad case of bugs. Due to rain and such the trees weren't sprayed as well as they usually are. We ended up with 45 gallons which I'd say isn't bad compared to years past. But we were also very lenient on the apples and kept a lot of questionable apples that in a good year we wouldn't have bothered to trim down.
The kids did great, the girls spent a lot of time at the 'park' on the swings, but had fun eating apples and picking them off the ground. Isaac was full force helping from the get go, but after coffee/snack he ended up staying inside reading and playing and keeping Sally company. Him and Kadley played so well together, it was fun to witness.
Emma even let me wrap her up for a little while.
We got all the picking done before lunch then took a break to eat. We got the girls down after lunch when it was time for pressing. Isaac was VERY excited for the cider making and was running full force helping again :-)
It didn't last too long before he heard the words "anyone want to swim?"
The girls (and daddy) slept through a good chunk of the cider pressing but not all and were able to help near the end.
Little Miss Sunshine waking up
We cleaned up shop, had dinner, and made the trek back home.
