Quiet books

I finally (well almost one step left) finished the girls quiet books. I had made one for Isaac a while ago. Even though he is just now to the age to truly enjoy it, I'm glad I got them made. They were fun to make and I hope they enjoy them. Isaac really enjoys playing with all three books right now. 

After much pinterest stalking I found the themes I wanted to make. So figured I'd get my pages out on the Internet to inspire others like I was inspired. 

As you can tell I've gotten a little better. Isaac's is the bottom left book. The pages have become a little cleaner and better looking with the use of my Silhoette Cameo cutting machine. I was able to cut HTV (heat transfer vinyl) and iron it on instead of hand writing. I did use my machine to cut Isaac's name letters but have since gotten my machine to cut cleaner. 

The next set of pages are a dress up doll, Mr. Potato Head, & a cooking set up. The clothes for the dress up doll go in a zippered suitcase. The potato head pieces go in the barrel pocket. And the cooking page is quiet fun. There is a clear vinyl pocket for it all to store. The stove knob is a snap and spins around. The plate is sewn on but the silverware, napkin, & juice cup all snap on and off. 

This is just a simple coloring page with a notebook and slots for crayons. 

Here are the counting pages. Isaac's was a simple bead on string design. The numbers are felt. With the girls I used the HTV again for cleaner looking numbers. The cookies store in the 'jar' pocket and each cookie has a different number of chips to match up with the number on the sheet. The chips on the cookies are also made out of HTV. The cupcake tops snap into place and I hand sewed beads to correspond with the number on the base of the cupcake. 

Last is the shape and color page. Pretty simple. All shapes snap into place. My cutting machine came in handy again to cut these shapes. Isaac has a hard time taking the snaps on and off so I still have to help him with this. But he enjoys matching them and laying the corresponding shaped on top. 

Month Thirteen

I was debating on whether or not to continue our monthly photos... but I figured why not, might as well do it while I have the time instead of looking back and wishing I had. And besides it's become a habit now :-) It's fun to capture the many faces of Isaac, he is quite the ham! New this month - testing limits, down to one nap, ranging from 40 minutes to 90 minutes. Kinda wish he was a long napper, but maybe I'll pray for that with our next kiddo. He's a great little helper! Helps us unload the dishwasher, throw clothes down the laundry chute, and he puts away his toys!! He is obsessed with his toothbrush(es), although still sitting at 6 teeth (since September) I think he likes chewing on his toothbrush to soothe his molars that will someday come in. We have been doing a lot of animal sounds, I caught a little "moo" out of him yesterday, and today he copied me when I was making an owl sound "Hoo!Hoo!" His favorite part of the day, hands down, is wrestling with dad! He is 100% boy, we were at baby story time today and while we were reading the other two books, he couldn't put down the digger book. He is still a great eater, although he has been turning his nose up at eggs lately. So this morning he helped me make some banana pancakes, he approved!














And here he was lounging in the basement with us the other day. He loves the remote, he could push buttons (literally - not yet to the point of pushing my buttons, thankfully) all day!


And here is the stocking I am working on cross stitching. I wasn't able to start on it until after my class was finished Dec 17th (which I got an A in by the way!!). So any chance of getting it finished before Christmas was out the window and I was okay with that. It'll be done by next year. I have finished all the small sections and now just have the big blue area to finish and the white face of the snowman. Then the detailing and assembly!

Baby Projects

I've been meaning to update on my past 'nesting' projects and am just now getting around to it. Tired enough I needed to sit still at the computer I guess. Or I'm just looking for something to do as I patiently await our little one's arrival :-D

Besides the many diapers I completed months ago...

When my mom was here, a month ago, I had some craft shopping to do. I made up some thank you cards for showers and what not gifts. I hemmed a few swaddle blankets, thanks to an amazing shower gift!! I also purchased a little kit to make a shopping cart cover. Boy was that more than I bargained for. I don't like sewing things BIGGER than my machine, not very easy to maneuver.

I think I was at my peak nesting time about a month ago. Wow I had so much energy it was great! Where has it gone??

About a week - 2 weeks ago I also sewed together some diapers for a friend, about 6 or 7. And got some NEW labels to add :-)

In the last week I've made two cute little football hats; one 6+ months and then one newborn:

I had to make up my own pattern for these so it was nice to practice and get a couple of sizes out of it.

And I also cranked out a pair of fleece longies which are meant to be used over fitted diapers at night, although this newborn pattern looks to run really small.... so they might just be around the house pants.

This fleece longie pattern came from Katrina's Sew Quick Soaker. Since the newborn size was pretty small I decided to make smalls next. Well when I printed off the small pattern it turns out you make the inseam length 'as needed'.... well since I don't have a little one here to measure these are getting put on hold.
