2nd week of August (and third week summary)

Monday, August 8th starts off like any other week... we have a golf camp this week for Thomas, Emma, and Isaac (Mary didn't want to participate and she was finishing up archery anyway). Unfortunately they were ALL at separate times because of the different levels and Isaac's was across town cuz the bigger kids had theirs at Hiawatha Golf Course. The two younger ones were close to home at Theo Wirth Golf Course. Thomas was up for the first session, his was only a half hour so I stayed on site.

Emma's was next at the same place but her's was about 50 minutes.

Then we had lunch in the car to take Isaac 20 minutes away for his lesson which lasted an hour and a half.

Tuesday same thing different day... for this camp Thomas and Emma had it through Thursday, Isaac's was all five days. Only problem was Tuesday I woke up with a fever and felt VERY fatigued. I dropped the kids off from afar and kept my distance from people.

The next day Thomas went to his lesson and when he finished I felt him and he ALSO had a fever. I shouldn't have sent him but I didn't know :-( turns out we both had covid, waawaa....

Kyle helped with some pick ups and drop offs to finish off the other kids golf and Mary's Thursday archery. Isaac and Kyle hit the golf course Saturday to utilize some of the new skill Isaac had worked on all week.

Great way to go into my birthday week, sick with covid turning forty and my stupid period started, I also had to miss a super weekend event with Beachbody that I had tickets to and was REALLY looking forward to since I hadn't been to one in three years. That had to be the BEST birthday ever! HAHA I knew there was good to come so I wasn't complaining that much, but yeah it royally sucked. Thomas ended up just having a fever for 24 hours and tested negative on day four. It took me a FULL ten days to finally test negative. I had a headache on and off the whole time but nothing like the first day. I finally got a negative test the day before we left for NYC, thankful for that.

No one else got sick, we were afraid Mary might have gotten it because the night of my birthday she was feeling crummy and ended up throwing up that evening, but no fever and she was negative for covid.

Summer in One Week

The first week of August was a great one. The girls were done with summer school and although Kyle was in Wichita for the week, I kept the kids busy, busy in an attempt to make evenings easier on me. Isaac had an afternoon sports camp this week where we discovered a nearby water park! Monday we started the day off with boy haircuts.

And I got to finally pick up my bike! Hole fixed.

Thomas had soccer that evening. I had hired a sitter because there was suppose to be a PTA meeting... that was CANCELLED AGAIN! Third one this summer I should have known... but I couldn't cancel the sitter or I'd just get charged for her so I had her come anyway and snuck away for a hot yoga class.

Tuesday we tried to locate that free food truck through MPS (Minneapolis Public Schools) but it had broken down again. Thankfully many school sites hand out free lunch (cold lunch) so the kids got to enjoy that before we took Isaac to basketball.

We also were prepared Tuesday, so when we picked up Isaac we went the two blocks down to the city pool. It was great cuz it was only $5 per adult and kids were free so ONLY five bucks for all of us to attend. They had two slides but one was broken. On our way to the van afterwards an ice cream truck went by so we got a treat.

That evening we had a pretty bad storm. I was awoken to the sound of our alarm chirping like a door was opening. This kinda freaked me out, Kyle was out of town and at first I thought "Oh crap someones getting into the garage" but then I realized how DARK it was and the electricity had gone out, which was why the alarm was chirping. It ended up coming on early in the morning so was out for a few hours overnight.

Wednesday we hit the pool again after basketball and met up with our friends Michelle and Enoch and their two girls.

Thursday the hole in Thomas's wall finally got covered, this was phase one then he came back a couple more times to sand and mud to smooth it out.

Mary had archery on Thursday and Kyle made it home. He picked up Mary straight from the airport and I took Thomas to his soccer over at the park by our house.

Friday we biked to the library that morning, then Isaac had his basketball camp. While Isaac was at camp, Kyle and the other three of us rode our bikes to the uptown art fair. It was a warm one!

On our rush back to the house to get all our pool stuff cuz we were planning to hit the pool as a whole family right from picking up Isaac I had a BLOW OUT in my cargo bike! We had made it around isles and was coming down from the bridge. I pushed it the rest of the way but made us a few minutes late to get Isaac.

I didn't get any pictures at the pool, but it was fun!

Saturday we went to get a replacement tire/tube for my bike and hit the art fair again. It was rainy drizzly so it worked out I didn't have a bike (which was our plan to bike to the art fair again).

We went BACK to the art fair, Kyle got a painting and I got a couple pieces of pottery. I don't have a photo this time but this is where I discovered SugarButter Cookies. It's a local gal that makes these huge AMAZING chocolate chip cookies. They are literally two inches tall! I made a trip to the uptown art fair just to try them cuz I couldn't stop thinking about them after I saw her booth. As you'll see in my future blog posts we find her around the twin cities almost every other weekend :-)

Dinner at Bucca's

Second half of July

Monday July 18th
It was a warm one. We got the girls dropped off at summer scholars and decided it was FINALLY time to air up that second paddle board we'd gotten.

Isaac was getting practice in paddling.

It was warm and Isaac was a little bummed he didn't get to jump in like Thomas did but since it was just him on his board I didn't want to deal with the mess of the ankle strap and all. So we went home, put the boards away then rode our bikes over to cedar to swim at the beach.

This guy was collecting big rocks and stacking them. Meanwhile you see in the distance Thomas was throwing the rocks back in, LOL.

Good nap after a morning in the sun.

Kyle was out of town so of course he took over our bed Monday night.

Isaac was at park playdate this week - Monday's sessions were cancelled due to heat which is what prompted the paddle board and beach day. But while he was there on Tuesday Thomas and I had some playtime. We went to Wolfe park after my chiropractor appointment.

House project: smart light switches in the basement. Had to deal with a crowded box and lining up the frame.

Turkeys! There his a family of turkey's we'd pass through when coming back from Isaac's park playdate in St. Louis Park.

Kyle was home from traveling and I got a morning run in on Wednesday.

Mary at Lacrosse practice.

Friday bike to the library followed by a trip to the penny carnival. Oh I bet we didn't bike this time... I can't remember, lol.

Friday night we had some friends over for dinner. We had dinner then went to the beach and got out on the paddle boards.

Saturday I attended a Mom of Multiples club summer picnic. It was nice to see some ladies again from out previous time in Minnesota and the girls loved playing with all the other twins.

Water balloon fight in the rain.

Sunday I got a much needed haircut and then Kyle took Mary to the archery field. She had bought herself a bow she found at this flea shop type store.

Sunday evening we ate in our dining room. On Friday when Nate & Bri were over that was the first time we'd eaten in our dining room, we don't have a table but it sure felt nice to sit down and eat. The kids had been sitting at the kitchen bar while Kyle and I stand every meal.

Some pics of Harpo snoozing away in his 'room'.

Monday July 25th. It was the girls last week of summer school. This week Isaac AND Thomas had park playdate in the morning and then just Isaac in the afternoon. I worked on getting some things done around the house: like putting these plants in the window sill of the bathroom to act as privacy so we can keep the shades open. And got my artwork delivered :-) This was a photo I took of our chickens in Wichita.

Thomas started soccer on Monday and Thursday nights.

Tuesday July 26th
We'd been trying to track down this free food truck that was being offered through the city of Minneapolis. It was only for kids 18 and under but they had a schedule and were in certain parts at certain times. We had tried a few and couldn't catch it - I guess it kept breaking down. We FINALLY found it and the boys got to enjoy a free hot lunch. Also a pic of the note from our former mailman in Wichita.

Thursday was attempt one to get a Minnesota drivers license... had made an appointment filled out the pre-application, had all my paperwork. We arrived and I found out I had to take the written exam first. UGH! Got an appointment, first one I could get in was September 19th! Which was yesterday so I can say that I have done it and now just waiting for my new license to get mailed.

I also took Harpo to the vet this day. He had been having diarrhea ALL week! I had shortened up his room to help with the morning clean up mess, making it less of an area. Of course Thursday morning was the first morning he didn't make a mess, but since it had been going on for a few days and he had pooped blood the night before I took him in. He's fine now and must have just been some bacteria or something.

That night Mary started Archery at the rec center. It was about a 5 or 6 session activty. Fun for her to be doing tings she's expressed interest in.

Video:

Friday July 29th it was the girls turn for some 1:2 attention. Both the boys had park playdate in the morning so we took them (and saw turkeys!)

Then we went for bubble tea... well actually we made bubble at home, but the girls had wanted these stuffs from the bubble tea place. So we went, they used their own money to buy their goodies and they had cake to celebrate the end of summer school!

A friend had asked about their height difference so I had them pose for a photo to show.

Saturday, Harpo getting his morning pills, a new one added to the bunch for a week for his upset stomach.

Some work around the house. I got a power washer to clean the filthy front porch and we built a gate for the side of the house where there wasn't one.

We went to the beach for some fun in the sun. I paddle boarded ALL the way over to Brownie lake - a goal of mine I had.

Sunday we did something we don't do enough of, and that was go for a walk in the wooded area just west of our house. We have a whole nature center back there. It was fun to hike for a bit, kids' complaining not fun but they survived.

That afternoon evening Kyle and I had another date night where we went golfing and hit a little brewery and dinner afterwards.

Whoop Whoop that's it for July! Gonna get caught up BEFORE September is over (hopefully) Only a month and a half behind now.
