Quiet books

I finally (well almost one step left) finished the girls quiet books. I had made one for Isaac a while ago. Even though he is just now to the age to truly enjoy it, I'm glad I got them made. They were fun to make and I hope they enjoy them. Isaac really enjoys playing with all three books right now.

After much pinterest stalking I found the themes I wanted to make. So figured I'd get my pages out on the Internet to inspire others like I was inspired.

As you can tell I've gotten a little better. Isaac's is the bottom left book. The pages have become a little cleaner and better looking with the use of my Silhoette Cameo cutting machine. I was able to cut HTV (heat transfer vinyl) and iron it on instead of hand writing. I did use my machine to cut Isaac's name letters but have since gotten my machine to cut cleaner.

The next set of pages are a dress up doll, Mr. Potato Head, & a cooking set up. The clothes for the dress up doll go in a zippered suitcase. The potato head pieces go in the barrel pocket. And the cooking page is quiet fun. There is a clear vinyl pocket for it all to store. The stove knob is a snap and spins around. The plate is sewn on but the silverware, napkin, & juice cup all snap on and off.

This is just a simple coloring page with a notebook and slots for crayons.

Here are the counting pages. Isaac's was a simple bead on string design. The numbers are felt. With the girls I used the HTV again for cleaner looking numbers. The cookies store in the 'jar' pocket and each cookie has a different number of chips to match up with the number on the sheet. The chips on the cookies are also made out of HTV. The cupcake tops snap into place and I hand sewed beads to correspond with the number on the base of the cupcake.

Last is the shape and color page. Pretty simple. All shapes snap into place. My cutting machine came in handy again to cut these shapes. Isaac has a hard time taking the snaps on and off so I still have to help him with this. But he enjoys matching them and laying the corresponding shaped on top.

The girls at 7 months

Just now getting these off my camera. More like 7.5 months now. They are growing so fast! They are crawling, and not just army crawling now they are getting up on their hands and knees. Emma's favorite thing as of the past two days is pulling up on things AHH!

They are sleeping a bit better, longer stretches anyway. And love eating! Emma has two teeth, no sign of Mary's yet but they are probably on their way.

They are a bundle of joy and so adorable!

Christmas is coming

This year has been really fun with Isaac. He has enjoyed picking out an ornament for our advent calendar each morning at breakfast. And we also put an ornament on our Jesse tree each evening at dinner and read the devotion. (My friend Lesa blogged about our ornament exchange for the Jesse tree here)

We put up lights a few weekends ago and last Saturday and tonight drove around the neighborhoods a little seeing all the lights. Isaac says they are beautiful.

He's been cute playing with his little people nativity scene.

I had fun too, heehee.

I've also tried to keep him busy with fun activities. We made salt dough ornaments out of our hand prints. Harpo even got to participate in that one.

We made frosty the snowman head Oreo balls.

And tonight we made shortbread cookies. Which we will decorate tomorrow

It's been a fun month of celebrating Jesus's birth.

Edited to add photos from cookie decorating:

Science "dinosaur" Museum

Since we had Isaac's little party during the week we told him we could do something special as a family on Saturday for his birthday. He wanted to go to a dinosaur museum. We don't really have a decent natural history museum so that meant we'd be headed to the science museum. Kyle and I hadn't been in a few years so it was fun, and nice that kids 3 and under are free!!

We started with the Dino's first wanted to make sure we saw what we came forincase  anyone started to meltdown.  There were some hands on dino things he enjoyed.

The girls had a good time too and did great!!

They all took naps in the car on the way home. Then we picked up take out for a late lunch. Love these kids!

Isaac's 3rd Birthday

Isaac turned 3 yesterday!
Isaac 3 years-2

Can't believe how fast he is growing! I love this shot because it is so Isaac. I didn't even stage it, he was just wanting to read <3 p="">Isaac 3 years-4

And with the 3rd birthday came Isaac's first birthday party. We did something really low key with a small group of local friends (neighbor friends he goes to ECFE with and a church friend he goes to Sunday school with). He chose the theme and the cake. We celebrated with a Daniel Tiger theme and a strawberry cake. Isaac and I made the strawberry cake the night before... we finish the cake and he asks "where are the strawberries?" I tried explaining to him the flavor was strawberry... but realized he was wanting actual strawberries. After forgetting to have Kyle pick them up with the other last minute grocery run Wednesday night, I had my friend grab some on her way to the party. So I was placing strawberries on the cake last minute in the car :-)

We rented a little play space that we have attended in the past.

And I decorated the food table and served a quick lunch.

The cake:

I couldn't find a Daniel Tiger cake at any bakery's because they don't have the copyright approval to use this cartoon character. So I improvised and made our own and added Isaac's figurines. The icing was a pain in the butt, but got it in place just a few hours before the party.

I made little crowns for the party guests:

I had planned to place the trolley ON the cake, but when it arrived it was a little bigger than I had planned so just decided it'd be best used as table decoration

We had LOTS of food, but with four out of the five mothers nursing, we plowed right through the food :-) It was a fun time, Isaac had a blast running and playing hard. The girls had fun too, pivoting and scooting on the floor. Here are some party play pictures:

It was a busy morning, but lots of fun! He got some really fun presents and played hard which was much needed with this early winter we are having. We came home, Isaac took a good nap then we had the evening portion of his birthday with a few more presents to open from family.

We got him a floor puzzle

Grandma Judy got him a playmobile set

and Grandpa Del got him a trampoline. He was already worn out after 2 minutes of jumping!

Isaac's old nanny even stopped by and had dinner with us and played with Isaac a little before bed. It was a busy busy day. We have some fun family time planned for this weekend to wrap up the birthday celebrations!
