I don't have too much to share about Christmas Day, we just laid low and stayed in all day. Here is the tree on Christmas Eve night after we sat the presents out and filled the stockings:
I took a little video of when Isaac first came downstairs and saw his toys under the tree.
He had fun playing with all his new toys and some of mommie's boxes. He got toothbrushes in his stocking, which he loved:
And this was a prime photo op, with Isaac in my lap and Harpo at my side :-)

The Lost Boot
As we gathered things to get ready to head out the door for the Christmas Eve Church service, Kyle asked "have you see Isaac's other boot?" He had his right one but the left was missing. So we began searching, looking all over at our level. Then getting down at Isaac's level. We checked all the rooms: his room, his closet, the dining room, the kitchen, the living room, the bathroom, and the guest room. We also checked all the little areas he likes to open, the pan cabinet, the guest bed nightstand, his toy box, the bookshelf... Where could it be!?! Did he put it in the trash? Kyle had kit taken the trash out that morning and we catch him over there every once in a while. When did we last see them? Saturday, he wore the boots to Costco with Kyle. "Well I will take a look in your car before checking the trash and I'll start the car too so it's warm". Not in his car and not in the trash. I come back in and suggest Kyle check upstairs and I'll check downstairs. Both knowing there is really know way it would make it to either. All the while asking Isaac "where did you put your shoe?" he continued to just follow us around the house with one shoe on. As I was downstairs I thought maybe he tossed it down the laundry chute. He knew how to put his dirty clothes down there. Nope not in the laundry basket, I hollar up to Kyle "it's not down the chute", which prompts him to look down it from the upstairs "it's clogged!" I grab a flash light and look up it:
"Found it!!"
So our 30 minute boot hunt comes to an end. As I walk up the stairs Isaac is laughing. What a little stinker!! ;-)
And here is a photo of the candles at church.

Isaac's '1 year photos'
I got some fun '1 year photos' of Isaac a week or so ago, trying out my new studio light and making use of the sweater I got him on black Friday before he grows out of it. I first used my light for our Christmas photo, which I wasn't happy with and planned to retake it, but then time got away from us and if I didn't get our cards made and mailed out they would have been late another year (last year I had an excuse, this year not so much). Anyway so after a first round of self-family portraits, it gave me a good idea of what I wanted to adjust for this time, and a little easier not coordinating myself, Isaac, Kyle, and HARPO to all look at the camera at the same time. Here was our Christmas card photo:
The ONE photo that Harpo is looking at the camera, and I will share my secret that it wasn't the same photo that Isaac was looking but being a photographer has it's perks and I was able to salvage it a little. There is always next year :-)
I haven't had time to sit down and go through his 1-year-photos until now. I had my Chemistry final last night, so that semester is done. I liked how our teacher put "Enjoy your break!" on the last page, I had to snicker at that since I don't plan to return to school until further evaluation (aka: after a few kids if that is still want I want to do :-P )
Anyway so the time came today, Isaac is napping and I don't have to sit down and do homework, it's kinda nice!!!!

Snow play
It was warmer yesterday so we attempted to play in the snow again. The timing was a little off because it was right before nap so he didn't last long outside.
It takes so long getting dressed that I wanted to at least try and play long enough so that we were out longer than it took to get ready.
He likes his gloves:
It's kinda hard for him to move around in his snow suit and boots, but he's starting to get the hang of it.

Snow Day!
We finally got our first 'real' snow of the season. Gesh it took long enough! I was afraid we were going to have another mild winter like last year.
This was Isaac's first time getting to be out in the snow so we got him all bundled up in his snow suit!
He seemed to like it. He hasn't been feeling too well today. We think he may be teething or getting over a little bug. I think he would have had more fun if he was feeling good, but he still seemed to enjoy the snow and was trying to crawl around in it. Walking was a little difficult in all the snow gear and boots, he fell over a few times; which reminded me of that scene in A Christmas Story
The above pictures were taken about 10am -ish, our first round of shoveling. It continued to snow heavily all day, and we ended up shoveling three separate times trying to keep up. Luckily we don't have much to shovel and it only takes us less than 15 minutes. I think we got about a foot today and they are still calling for about 3" overnight. Winter has arrived!

Isaac's Birthday
We started out the day with some fun decorations...
He wasn't quite a fan, the balloons were a little scary. We had eggs and toast for breakfast snapped some of our monthly photos and headed out the door for his 1 year check-up appointment.
Isaac weighed in at 23 pounds, 3 ounces and measured 31.75" long! Tall and lean! Just a check up, hearing he looks great. He did get his finger poked for some lab tests (hemaglobin, iron levels) and two shots (third and final round of pneumococcal and his first dose of Hep B.
After the doctors visit we headed to Sweet Retreat on 50th & France to pick up Isaac's birthday cupcake. Came home, Isaac fell asleep in the car, so Kyle stayed outside with him while he caught some zzz's and I came in to start lunch. We had some fried rice then celebrated by singing happy birthday and digging into our cup cakes!!! YUM!

Here he is dancing to the Happy Birthday song:
Then we wanted to do something fun, so we went to the Eden Prairie Center (just an indoor mall) that had a play place. Isaac had fun watching the other kids run around, trying to run around himself, and just exploring the climbing structures. He wore himself out then we came home.
Everybody took an afternoon nap, then we had tacos for dinner and headed to the basement to open presents. (not until we tried to capture a family photo, but Harpo would NOT cooperate! Oh well!)
We opened presents, skyped/facetimed with the family, and got all tuckered out for bed.
It was a fun day, I think Isaac had a good time and was finally catching on that it was a special day for him by the end of the day.

Minnesota Children's Museum
Friday we went to the Children's Museum with a friend of ours, Lesa & Parker. It was Parker's birthday!!!
Lesa had off work so she called to see if we could do a playdate. In an effort to get out of the house and do something fun, we decided to go to the chilren's museum. Isaac loved it, of course since he's an exploring fool right now :-P
First we stopped into the ball/bounce exhibit.
Then we went across the hall to the toddler area, lots to explore in here
Attempt at a photo of Parker and Isaac:
Isaac was going nuts in this area trying to get his hands on EVERYTHING at once, it was funny.
Another attempt to photograph them both
Then we went down a level to the water area, they both had a blast playing in the water tables!!
Here's a little video of Isaac playing in the water:
We only lasted about 2 hours then they boys were exhausted. Debating on a good time to buy a membership, maybe when we have another kiddo - then it'll be really worth it.
And to add.... look what I found!
And I added him to my list (Twin Cities Peanuts) which is a little out of date since I've found a few more I need to add but I will get to that another day.

Dancing
Isaac's new thing is dancing the past few weeks. He seems to love music! I've been trying to capture it on video but every time I get it out while he's dancing he runs over to me to see what I'm doing. But here he is dancing to his magnet toy in the kitchen. He usually really gets into this but he was holding on to the cabinet so you don't get to see his full routine (clapping and foot stomping) lol.
I had to giggle when he did his little butt shake, haha.
