Whiz Bang Days

DSC_0314
We attended OUR 2nd annual Whiz Bang Days. (This was the 61st annual one for Robbinsdale) This is a town event where a friend of mine lives. When we lived in the apartments we were just down the road a ways from this town. My friend still lives here (Sheryl) and I attended the parade with her on Sunday and then Kyle and I went back for the fireworks later that night.

The parade was rather interesting, there was a marching band from South Dakota, all the floats were of different local towns with their 'princesses' waving, a few clowns, people throwing candy, and mainly the usual.

Here is Sheryl and her daughter, Maya, watching the parade. And also on the walk back to her house.

After the parade I came home and Kyle and I had dinner before heading back over for the fireworks show. I was excited to take fireworks pictures for the first time... we 'thought' we had a good spot camped out, We got there WAY early and played cards for a few hours while waiting for it to get dark. Problem ended up being we were WAY too close!!! I had my lens as wide as it would go and it still cut some of them off. We also ended up being covered in black specks from the fireworks. But luckily this was just a practice round, we plan to attend the Target Show in a couple of weekends that they do along the Mississippi. Maybe I can get some better shots then.
