Day 6 - April 26th 2009 Sunday our last day :-(

This was our last day in mexico, we were to meet the shuttle at 11:00 for our 2:45 flight.
First we went and had our last breakfast, here is my view of the beach from our breakfast seats:

And this was Kyle's view:

Here Kyle is getting some food:

Then after breakfast we went and layed on the beach until the last possible minute. We did not want to leave this relaxing heaven... but we knew we had to, we both had to be at work the next day :-(

There were always people working around the resort, it was pretty early in the morning and this guy was raking the beach and picking up any little pieces of trash.

We got to watch the little sand swallows hop around, they were so cute.

It was time for us to check out and wait on our shuttle to the airport, here were are in the lobby, we did a cross word puzzle for a little bit but it was making us both very tired.

Here we are at the Cancun Airport, our line was pretty long, but we had lots of time. It went pretty quickly.

After we got through security and only had one thing confiscated (a bottle of vanilla I got for a friend that I forgot to put in my checked bag, gurg!) we ate at this Air Margarittaville... rather expensive, but we were STARVING!

My battery camera ended up dying so I did not get anymore pictures, but all we did after this was fly to Miami, go through US customs, get our checked back and check it again (this time putting the vanilla we bought at the mexico airport in the checked bag) and head to our gate. The miami airport is VERY boring and not very impressive, we wished we were at the Dallas airport where they have free internet :-)
Well that's the end of our wonderful honeymoon, hope you enjoyed reading about it and seeing our pictures :-)

Day 5: April 25th 2009 - Saturday

We slept in a little this morning... not much though and headed off to desayuno (breakfast) at a different place. The "Riviera" buffet. It was pretty much the same but they had bagels... but once I touch it and tasted it it wasn't the normal bagels we have in the states... it was more just bread that looked like bagels. We then went to try and see the FunJet guy to figure out what time we needed to meet the next day for our airport shuttle... but of course he wasn't there as usually so we'd have to come back.

Off to lay on the beach. We were wanting to ride the kayaks today... but it was so windy (remember it was suppose to 'storm') that they didn't have them out today. But we did play in the waves pretty much ALL morning it was fun. Picking up shells with my toes, Kyle LOVED jumping into the waves!! Kyle also got talked to by some American family asking "so did you win last night" Lol I told Kyle... "see now you're famous!" :-)

I got a really good picture of a wave knocking Kyle over, but I guess it didn't come out :-( Our bodies were covered in sand and salt, I had sand all in my swimsuit and salt water up my nose, in my ears and my mouth... so we showered off and headed to the pool to lay out for a bit (in the shade) before lunch. Isn't he a sweet husband rubbing lotion on my legs :-) I was hoping to do the aqua gym at noon... but it never took place. So instead we had a few mojitos and margaritas.

Then we ate lunch at "Festival" and had some good pasta... better than the italian buffet dinner place! And we met some more friends:
We looked into checking out some bicycles to rent, and headed back to the room to change and we ended up taking a deep siesta...Then our remote broke AGAIN! Then went back to the bicycle place and none of them had baskets so we just decided to walk to this little plaza place not far down the road from our resort. First checking to see if the Funjet guy was there, but he wasn't he was taking his own little siesta I guess. Here are pictures of the front of our resort.

And here we are at the little plaza place getting the last of our souvenirs.

After our walk we finally caught up with the funjet/lamos travel guy to figure out when to meet our shuttle the next day and headed back to the beach to lay out for a bit and play in the waves again. And have a few more mojitos and margaritas :-)

A drunken group of Canadians were next to us, she wanted to take our picture for us.

We ate dinner at our second (last) reservation place: "Le Gourmet" which was a french cuisine. Kyle's first four course meal! It was REALLY good. Kyle had soup (see below) and then a salad, while he had his salad I had this yummy crab thing. Then his entry was fillet menion (sp?) and mine was some pork loin which I didn't really care for, but then dessert was yummy I had a creme bruele.

Then we mossie-ed around waiting for 9:30 so we could go to the show... then we were wondering why nothing was going on in the little meeting area.. and went to the theater early about 9:00 and found out that the show actually started at 8:30!!! It was Michael Jackson night so it was basically just an hour concert of Michael Jackson. It was actually pretty impressive... and the video the played between set changes kinda made us wish we would have went to one of his concerts before he went crazy... it made me think of Josh when he had his silver glove out :-)

Then off to bed! Our remote was working when we got back to our room YIPEE! And there was a note for Mr. & Mrs Simpson and Post (lol it was funny how they put both our last names) anyway just thanking us for coming and had a comment card in it. We watched a little Jaws on TV, ordered a sandwich from room service cuz I was a little hungry (my pork loin wasn't the best, so I didn't eat much of it at dinner) When I ordered room service I was asking Kyle what he'd want if he happen to want to share and he said "I do not want anything! I am full, I will not eat any of it!" LOL sure enough as I was eating he asks "can I have just a little?" with a big puppy dog face, it was funny! It was our last night in Mexico :-(

Part 3: Day 4: April 24th 2009 Friday - Resort/Theater

After getting off the ferry we walked around Playa del Carmen a little more, we bartered for this really cool platter thing. We had seen it the first night at our resort when all the vendors were set up and thought "oh they'll be here later and we'll just get it then" but then we found out that was a one night thing to go along with the theme that night. So we found it again and bartered with this crazy lady that kept saying "you know me" which we didn't. Anyway things in Mexico aren't as cheap as I had imagined them being... they know we're tourists and know they can rip us off, in my opinion.

Once we made it back to the resort it was time for dinner, we ate at the "Iztapalapa" place again (mexican) here was our walk between our room and the meeting point:

This was our dinner, I just took a picture of it cuz of the octopus looking things in the salad I got.
This was my view of the ocean from where we were eating. (I zoomed in a bit, hee hee)

After dinner we walked around a bit and found some hammocks to lay in, it was pretty windy. The weather was calling for thunderstorms the next day (which never happened). We saw two of these little creatures as we walked to the hammocks. Not sure what it is.

Because of little siesta on the ferry boat we were actually able to stay up late enough to attend the 9:30 theater! The show that night was some 'international show' you will never believe the night....
So the guy talking (Fernando) gets on stage and says Pablo (a guy in white bottoms in the show) is going to be coming around to get a few members of the audience for the Mr. Sandos 2009 challenge. And who do you think got picked???

Mr. Kyle himself! Yes he is now a Mexican Star!!!
So he announced there will be four rounds of Mr. Sandos and the winner will be 'crowned' Mr. Sandos 2009. Well the first part was actually a four part race, but we find out later that was just the first thing....
So the first thing they had to do was pull the kayak across the stage, run over and do 10 pushups, run back across stage and chug a beer, then run to this rock thing and make 3 sexy poses. Two guys went before Kyle, #1 from Iowa #2 from Chili and #3 Kyle (#4 was a Canadian guy sitting next to kyle in the above picture) Anyway #1 &2 didn't drink so they decided to make the last two chug TWO beers....

Here Kyle is pulling the Kayak...

Here he is doing pushups and being a show off by adding a clap between each one :-)
Chugging the beer.....

And then... I'm just busy taking pictures and I look up and see this!!! I was thinking "OMG this is my husband... who is this?" It was so unlike Kyle cuz I could tell he was nervous the whole time... his quote is "I was trying to win, I had to show off" lol... the two guys before him both lifted up their shirts, but Kyle wasn't kidding around.

Uno Sexy Pose....
Dos sexy pose....

And tres sexy pose.....
It was pretty hilarious. So after Mr. Canadian went they did a cheering contest to see who was in the lead. Kyle got a lot of cheering but so did the #4 (who was having to show over more than Kyle since he went last)
2nd round: They had to sit in the chair with their legs closed and say "Oh Mariaaaaaa" and hold that while Maria (later we found out her name was actually Makia but we thought they were saying Maria) came over and jumped on their lap and popped a balloon.
Then there was another cheering rating... Kyle actually did four balloons which was more than anyone else, but Kyle and #4 were still pretty much tied.

3rd Round! They poured tequila (water for the two non-drinkers) in their mouth while they repeated "gringo gringa" or something like that. And again, Kyle did the best!!! #4 guy ended up telling Kyle "I just got here last night and was up til like 3:00am getting drunk off tequila as soon as it hit my mouth I thought I was going to puke all over again... I couldn't do it very long"

And finally Round 4! They all had to run out into the audience and grab as many zapatos (shoes) as they could. The first guy on the right got the most, but then they did another cheering meter...

They ended up pronouncing the #4 Canadian guy as winner and Kyle as 2nd place! Kyle was ROBBED, but it was okay cuz first place got a fanny pack and Kyle got a frisbee and tshirt! LOL It was a fun night, one of which we totally weren't expecting by attending the theater!

Then we came back to the room and showered up and wore our little robes for the first and only time of the trip, lol.
