Isaac's Basketball & Lost Tooth

Isaac is doing basketball at the rec center again this year. He loves sports! His favorite part is the scrimmage, but we're teaching him that practice is just as important. Thomas wants to get out there and join him as well:

At the end of January Kyle was in Amsterdam (blog coming soon about his trip), but that meant we had two Thursday's of basketball when I needed to take the kids solo. I reached out to a neighbor mother's helper and she came with to help occupy the girls. They played playdoh in the lobby while I kept Thomas contained and watched Isaac a little.

Thursday, January 31st Kyle was back so it was just me and Isaac that went while Kyle stayed home with the kids. This was the week of the polar vortex and school had been cancelled all week so I was in desperate need of leaving the house. Isaac had a loose tooth that he would just not leave alone all though practice.

Working on sportsmanship... pretty proud of his basket he just made.

The following day, Friday, when I went to pick him up from chess after school he had LOST his tooth! That's number three so far. He lost the two bottom middle teeth last spring and hasn't had a loose tooth since. I think he has one of the top ones loose at the moment as well.

Thomas 18 month Check up

A little late for Thomas's 18 month check up but it WAS before he hit 19 months, so I call that a win :-)

We managed to get in one afternoon when the girls had school so it was nice for it to be just me and him at the appointment. He's looking good, growing good, healthy sweet boy! Just such a joy to our family. Isaac was commenting just yesterday "I like our house better after Thomas is born".

He LOVES books! Books and balls are probably his most favorite things! He weighed in at 25.75 pounds, and was 33 inches long. They still measure him laying down (which is kind of shady) next visit he will be standing so it'll be a much different comparison.

He got two shots and still remains up to date with vaccinations. We do a spread out schedule, so while we don't really skip any needed we only do two shots per visit and he gets them all in when he needs them. I've done this with all my kids and while there's lots of debate out there on vaccinations they are GOOD for us and keep everyone safe! I just don't like pumping their little bodies full of so many at one time. Thomas did get his MMR vaccine a little earlier than my other kids because we took him out of the country when he was 13 months old, lucky boy ;-)

Children's Museum January & February

Been using our children's museum membership here and there.

Went in January with just the girls and Thomas.

Then went one Saturday evening this month with everyone to check out the Wild Kratts exhibit.

Hole in the Wall

**I really have to laugh at how long this took us to get repaired... but that's life.**

Sometime in Mid-October 2018:
We had some little spots here and there I wanted to take care of, ya know the little nicks and scratches and paint chips from 3M hooks. I decided to finally take care of a handful of them all at one time. Feeling pretty proud to be on top of something.

Then I went to look for a missing book and pulled out the kids bookshelf to discover this!!!

I left the room for a second to come back to discover Mary had touched the wall on the bubble:

It was all crumbling and soft around the bubble.

So I ended up getting all the soft spots out and cleaned up around and it kinda sat this way for a few months.

We had our stucco guy come out and take a look to make sure it wasn't an external water intrusion issue that we would want to fix before patching the hole. We concluded that due to the vent being under the book shelf, over time with the cool from the AC and the heat from the furnace that it created moisture build up in that spot. There was no water damage to the slats in the wall so we knew it wasn't from outside. With that information it was time to call in for a repair. We are not familiar with plaster so I wasn't sure what to do. After watching the guy, realized we could have done it ourselves.... but with four kids and our schedules it was just easier to pay someone and finally get it done (four months later, haha!) he patched it up and I got it painted, not a perfect job painting but I didn't want to deal with getting tape out so it'll do for now.

Just realized I didn't get a photo of the after but here's one with Thomas :-)

Beginning of January Odds and Ends

Here are some random photos. I didn't get 18 month photos of Thomas done. Even though that was last week I'll probably just wait and do 19 month photos next month. And I forget to get his appointment scheduled til his actually 'monthly date' so then when I get it made there isn't an opening for a few weeks. So his 18 month check up will be at the end of January. I'll try to get on his 2 year appointment as soon as they can schedule it. Unfortunately she wouldn't for me cuz the calendar only goes out two months, REALLY?!?!

Emma is so funny and sits watching TV while rubbing her hair with her feet, LOL! Crazy flexibility.

Thomas is so stinkin' cute and he knows it. He loves to make us all laugh and is in his happy place here: eating.

Sending daddy a photo the other morning while he was away traveling. This is what 6:30 looks like.

Here's Thomas in ECFE (Early Childhood Family Education) Lover of books and always on the go.
