As I mentioned in my previous post, my grandmother had tons of brothers and sisters. This reunion was with all the decedents of my Great-grandfather and great-grandmother: Joseph and Mary Stanek.
We arrived at lunchtime Saturday.
Aunt Beanie is that only sibling left, she's my Grandmother's youngest sister.
We had cousins come from New York City, Chicago, near Dallas, South Carolina, Minnesota (us!), and of course Missouri. (I'm probably missing others)
And cousins!! These are my kids and my brother's kids
That evening we drove a little more south to Springfield where we had a house to stay. Now that we are a family of five it's easiest to rent a whole house from VRBO.com We settled in for the night, had some Springfield style cashew chicken and got the kids to bed. The next morning we had breakfast with my dad, who lives in the area. And then headed back up for round two of the reunion.
Isaac with Grandma Judy
The girls were pretty clingy both days, luckily Sunday they gave me a little more breathing room. Still hard to visit with everyone when you're chasing three littles around.
This is my great aunt and uncle, Emil and Emma. They were the twins of the bunch (my maternal grandmother's siblings) and also who my Emma is named after. My Mary is named after my great-grandmother (Aunt Emma's mom) and my paternal grandmother Mary Post.
Sunday was the day they got all the families together to get the traditional group shots.
Here are the grandkids of Joseph and Mary (my mother's generation)
Here are the great-grandkids (my generation)
And here are the great-great-grandkids (my kids generation)
They also took photos of each sibling's families. This is my Grandmother's side. So my mom and her brother. My brother and his family were there the day before so they didn't make it in the photo this year :-(
It was a great time and we were so glad to have been able to make it. We are looking forward to future family reunions.
We left the reunion and went back to Springfield where we got to see my brother's family again and let all the cousins play together (next post).
