Biscuit Co & Art Museum February 15, 2020

Saturday February 15th we went to Dempsey's Biscuit Co for the first time. We had tried to go the previous Sunday but the wait was so long we decided to go to Harvest Bread Co instead (big mistake). This was the first go then we went two more times that same month, lol. SOOO good. Totally not healthy, but amazing chicken, amazing buscuits and we did love their brussels sprouts, which they were out of the last time we went.

I loved that some of their meals had to do with local streets, this is in our neighborhood so I of course had to get the Belmont since that's the street we live on. There was also the Douglas and Hillside, Broadview, and Clifton.

Kids got waffles, pancakes, and french toast.

Kyle got chicken and grits

After brunch we headed to the Wichita Art Museum. It was free Saturday and we wanted to check it out. To our surprise they had a Dave Chihuly glass sculpture just like the MIA has (Minneapolis Institute of Art).

This pregnant belly was carved out of glass. It was in a special exhibit by Preston Singletary. So cool.

We weren't there long and we managed to see everything. There was some construction happening at the main entrance and it appeared that many galleries were closed. Maybe next fall we can go back and they will have more open.

Out to Eat around Wichita

I don't exactly remember when these all were taken so I just complied some photos of eating out to get in one post. All from February 2020.

This Keeper is located in Clifton Square, we went to eat at Dempsey's Burger

This photo was from when we tried out Great Harvest Bread Co. I was super excited to try this place out as it's whole food and healthy, but a chain so not necessarily local but I think they buy local... we won't be returning it was a horrible experience. we had to wait FOREVER for our food. Forever in line to order then they forgot our order and we noticed so many people that came after us getting their food. I said something and when our food finally did come it did not taste that good. They got most of our orders wrong. The kids however did amazing! They were patient and stay occupied with their plus plus pieces. Thomas on the other hand was a pill.

This was out Two Olives, another place I was super excited to try out and it was delicious, local and family owned. They were all set up for Valentines Day (This was February 13th) so they had to push some tables together for us. The website said kid friendly but had we known we probably wouldn't have brought the kids it was kinda fancy. But they did GREAT! We ordered a whole bunch of little Mediterranean plates (appetizers) and shared most all the food. REALLY good Mediterranean food. Wonderful Babaganoush.

One day during the day Thomas and I met Kyle for lunch at a restaurant downtown called Homegrown. Yummy food again! Felt so nice to be out just the three of us :-)

Snow Day! February 12, 2020

Loved seeing this white stuff cover the earth. Really missing snow and God seemed to bring this just when it was needed most. A little comfort sourse for me. The kids loved running out and playing in it before school. They are also missing school. But we don't even need snow boots for this stuff, lol.

This was a Wednesday. Thomas at music class <3 p="">

Daniel Tiger LIVE February 10, 2020

Thomas LOVES Daniel Tiger. And we know from Isaac how quick this stage of life goes so we are embracing it because Daniel Tiger is the best. Such good wholesome messages come from his shows. When we learned he was going to be showing one night in Wichita (at the Orpheum Theater) we decided to scoop up some tickets and go. It meant picking up Isaac from running at 5:30 and rushing downtown to see the show at 6. We pretty much had a front row parking spot so it wasn't that crowded, lol.

We quickly learned why.... while the theater was beatiful outside, the bathrooms were pristine, and the box office area was updated the actual inside of the theater was a dump. I was so shocked this building is in such bad shape. I actually wrote some people at the theater. They have put a lot of money into restoring it, it's about 90 years old. Which is great! BUT I asked about future plans to continue the improvements and there are none... wtf. That really sucks.

Here you can kind of see how bad it is inside. The chairs were about to fall apart. There were holes in the floor covered in duct tape. The plaster was coming off the walls holes in the walls and ceilings.

But besides all that Thomas loved the show and I'm so glad we got to take him to see Daniel Tiger Live. The bigger kids liked it too, just not as big of fans of DT as little T is :-)

Making Valentines February 8, 2020

The kids' school had a valentine party (of course they did cuz they are all about parties and treats and sugar...) Anyway so instead of buying valentines we made our own. I have PLENTY of supplies stocked away. I bought some fun toys from oriental trading company cuz the last thing I wanted to do was contribute more candy. So we went the toy route. They were cheap little toys and I probably spent less than if I bought store bought valentines. The girls took plain paper and wrote their names on all of them and added stickers. They were instructed not to write names on them cuz it's easier to just pass them out and not worry about who they go to.

Then once the little beanies arrived we used some fancy ribbon to attach their valentines to the stuffies:

Isaac also made his. We printed cards we designed online and added a stress ball. He picked out the toy he wanted to give. He is in a BIG class! There are 27 kids in his class. Way too big in my opinion... but heck he only had to deal with a large class for 10 weeks his whole second grade year. This COVID-19 thing is kind of a blessing in disguise.
