Vikings Game

On Sunday, August 27th Kyle and Isaac got to go to the Vikings game. Kyle was given the opportunity to purchase discounted tickets because he coached his TBall team last spring. It was so fun for them to get to go together, this was Kyle's (and Isaac's) first time at the new US Bank Stadium. Isaac says it was loud. They didn't stay for the whole game and when they got home the girls were already in bed and Isaac ran into my room and was telling me all about it! It was pretty fun to see him so excited.

He got to eat ice cream ("it was cold chocolate with marshmallows on top" Kyle said it was frozen hot chocolate) and a BBQ sandwich. The Vikings played the 49ers, when they left the vikes were losing but in the end they pulled out a win.

They were seated 6 rows from the top of the stadium. This was the bottom of the top set of stairs they came down. Kyle said Isaac was pretty tired at this point.

Isaac was excited to see the horn & drum.

Isaac's New Bed & Nursery

After searching and searching then finally finding the bunk bed we planned to get, we were at Ikea a few weeks ago and saw this one. Decided against the one we were planning to get and saved many $$ and just got this one which matches his dresser and night stand. Kyle picked it up a couple weeks ago, we got the bottom bed made shortly after than, then I put some of it together here and there when I had a chance. We finally got the top bunk put on, on Friday. He has a few things to accomplish before he gets to sleep on top, but it's a good motivator. And it's ready when the time comes.

We moved his old bed into Thomas's room, however when Thomas is older the boys will share a room. Here is a photo of the 'nursery' before the twin bed was moved in. I made the vinyl clings back in June. I also got a cute little helm clock that is hanging above the changing table. It ended up being much smaller than it appeared online, but it fits the theme well and tells time so I can't complain.

Mini Golf at the Science Museum

Isaac had been asking about mini-golf. I can't remember if it was from seeing the course at the sculpture garden a few weeks ago, or talking to Kyle about golfing. But we looked around for places and decided to go to the Science Museum before the backyard closed on Labor Day, the next day (wow that summer season went fast). It was after naps on Sunday, September 3rd and the backyard closed at 5:00 p.m., well we arrived at the counter about 4:15, she said it'd take about 30 minutes to complete, ha! Maybe if grown adults were playing. Took us a bit longer but with rushing the last few holes we managed to get them all in.

Helping Thomas putt :-P

Video of Isaac putting:

The inside of the museum was open a few more hours so we went inside to explore. The kids really enjoyed doing this running exhibit where they ran against a character on the computer and learned about speed.

We finished with a much needed visit to a Mexican restaurant and a margarita :-) As you can see, Thomas is NOT a fan of his car seat, which means he's constantly on me when we are out and about.

Saturday August 25th

We had dentist appointments for the kids then after naps we went to the children's museum. Isaac had wanted to go before he started school and I didn't want to go alone, so we went as a family on Saturday.

Needless to say everyone else in the twin cities had that idea as well, haha. It was the opening of the State Fair, but it was raining. We had hoped everyone was going to the fair, but turned out everyone was going to the Children's Museum, HA!

It actually wasn't that packed inside and with four eyes watching three kids it made things easier. The kids played in the scrambler for quite a while then they had fun climbing on the rock wall with the green screen. We hadn't done this before so it was kinda fun.

Emma is in a yellow shirt with a purple skirt:

I like how it looked like Isaac was climbing on a mountain,

Even though it was pretty drizzly we got to check out the outdoor terrace for the first time.

I can't even remember what we had for dinner, oh yeah I think we headed back to our neck of the woods and ate at Red Cow which just opened up near us in uptown. Great burgers for dinner and the kids were okay eating out. It seems to be getting tougher cuz they are being stinkers, but we're also tired and haven't been cooking at home as much as we should.

State Fair 2017

September 1st
We weren't planning to go to the fair this year. With Isaac starting kindergarten and the new baby, life is just crazy. The closer to Labor Day we got the more I wanted to not miss out on the annual great Minnesota get together. So Friday we decided to go! Kyle had taken the day off and went golfing in the a.m. Isaac gets home from school before 2:30 so we still had the rest of the day. Once the girls were up for nap we loaded up and made our way east to the fair grounds. It was a gorgeous evening and although crowded it was a great time. We decided to park west of the fair grounds, unlike previous years when we park north/east. We wanted to come in by the animal barns since that was one of the main things we wanted to do.

We stopped into the miracle of birth barn first:

Then made our way over to the DNR (dept of natural resources) pond next. Mary got to 'kayak' :-) and Isaac and Emma played in the rocks.

We found our first batch of food, not the ice cream but the kids couldn't resist running over to the face board.

Scottish Egg: It was okay, a sausage patty covering a hard boiled egg. Not super amazing but different.

The kids had a pretzel and cheese

Couldn't pass up the pronto pup (corn dog) one of my favorites!

And Kyle and I enjoyed a craft beer flight.

And COOKIES! Sweet Martha's makes about $5 million just from the fair, unbelievable. They really aren't even THAT good, but it's the experience and the mound of cookies in a bucket. This was the first year we got a bucket worth ($16). We figured now that we are a family of six we can handle the mass of cookies, haha. And the kids eat their fair share and we wanted a couple too. That wouldn't happen if we just got the cone of cookies. We got to eat them for the next couple days, def not as good as the fresh batch. And this is how Thomas spent much of his first fair experience :-)

Next Isaac got to do the giant slide all by himself!

We were getting tired, after the slide we stopped to let Thomas have some milks and the kids danced around near a radio booth. Kyle got some food at this point, I don't remember exactly what. Then we made a quick carousel stop
