Yesterday we attended an Easter Egg Hunt at our community school's rec center. Kyle had learned of this event while attending his TBall coach's meeting. We were excited to find something. A few years ago we did one we had to buy entrance to with Lion's Club in St Louis Park. It was not a fun experience and we vowed never to partake in it again. This one was better, not quite the chaos but still hectic as anything organizing little people smaller than waist high is.
They had different age divisions, so the girls got to go first. Their mission was to find TWO eggs then return them to the drop off in exchange for a prize. They found their eggs (Mary found a few but we threw the extras back) and we went to get in line. They each got a bag of animal crackers and a little bunny goodie bag.
Isaac's age group was across the street. Here they are listening to directions. His mission was to collect FOUR eggs then return to the drop site for his goodie prizes.
There he goes, it was a nice run for him and he immediately ran back with three (because one of the leaders was saying just three) we told him it was okay the main guy said four so he ran back to get one more.
He got the same, however out of all three, Mary's goodie bag was the jackpot. She got 3 or 4 toys along with fruit snacks, Emma just got one or two toys plus fruit snacks and I think all isaac got was fruit snacks. Luckily they shared and fought over all the prizes over the next hour trip through the Costco Zoo.
We came home and the girls napped then we colored some Easter eggs.
They quickly got their eggs colored (I should have boiled more but this was last minute, must think ahead next year). They asked if they could eat them and we thought yeah, sure why not. Now is better than any other time. And at this time we look down to Emma taking a huge bite out of her egg.... shell and all. Crunch - crunch - crunch she didn't even bat an eye :-O We help her get it out of her mouth and help them get them peeled. That was an activity in itself, lol.
I picked up an Easter Lily plant last week when my mom was visiting. It has been blooming nicely and smelling great!
Last night I got the Easter baskets set up. We don't do the whole Easter Bunny thing because we focus on Jesus being the reason for the special day. But we did explain that mom & dad got them gifts and candy because it is a special day and that's one way we celebrate. But that ultimately it is a day to celebrate Jesus dying on the cross and rising again giving us the gift of life in heaven for eternity. Attending BSF this year has been amazing for all of us. The kids are learning so much and I am too (Kyle too, he has been doing the study on his own at home). It really means more to me this year because we have been reading and studying John and it's lined up right with passover and good Friday, and Easter. I never really knew all the facts so it's been fun experiencing and learning it.
It worked out really well because my MoMs (moms of multiples) group had their benefit night last Monday night and there were raffle baskets. A few I won. One being the two bear plates which I sat out for the girls and I also won a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle popcorn bucket with little digital camera. He quickly grew quite fond of the camera and I'll share his first set of photos lower in this post.
I also got the girls these cute bunny ear dolls and Isaac got a Star Wars camping chair. Grandma Cindy sent some candy and another box of goodies they got to open as well. Grandpa Del & Grandma Judy sent cards so they had fun opening those and Isaac read the cards.
Lighting wasn't the greatest this morning to get many good photos... but here are some.
We got the girls changed after a quick breakfast. Well them not eating much at all cuz they had some of their treats. Grandma Judy had gotten the girls some pretty dresses while she was here. I failed to realize I had no shoes for them :-O I found some sandals I had tucked away for their birthday, which did not match at all, but would get the job done better than fuzzy boots, rain boots, or tennis shoes. ha! Grandma tried to get Isaac a cute outfit but he was not having it. He still has his anti buttons or snaps going on, but he will oblige when we make him for special occasions. This is our go to shirt we've used many times for special occasions, lol. Attempted to get a photo on the stairs but Isaac was the only one willing at this point
We made it to church and thank Goodness there was still room for the girls to attend their toddler class (they weren't having class for Isaac, we knew this ahead of time). We dropped the girls off and went to church. Isaac did great throughout and had his coloring pad that Grandma Cindy has sent. That kept him busy all through the sermon.
After church I attempted to get their photo together but as you can see below that didn't pan out so well.
We made it home and I got a few more that were better without the sun shining in their eyes.
Ironically Mary was the one being difficult this morning pre-church but she was all about it afterwards, so I went along with it. :-)
Here's Isaac with his new little camera. It's about as high quality as it looks but fun for him. And better that way cuz 1) it was free and 2) it's meant to play with so he can do just that. And unlike when I was a kid he's not wasting film, just battery juice. Unfortunately it's not rechargeable :-P so we might be going through many triple A's
Here's a slideshow of the photos he took today. We learned quickly that even tho the package stated it took 120 photos, it got full at 30. Well it was set to it's highest resolution, which is good, but if we want it to hold many photos we had to lower it to the lowest resolution setting.
