Cousin Visit

Last weekend my brother and his three kids came to visit. It was fun for all the cousins to get together and play.

Isaac and Brayden playing on the new baseball goal Isaac and I put together the day before:

Even though it was SOOO hot outside we got some time outdoors to play and run.

Friday afternoon we went for a walk around the Keeper of the Plains. Family Photo :-)

Cousin photo :-)

More play time at home.

Lots of fuse bead making:

We went out to breakfast on Saturday then hit a park afterwards to burn some energy. So hot, but we didn't let the sweat stop us.

Watching something here and Thomas was a little afraid, Brad held his hand to comfort him :-)

Kansas City Day Trip

Sunday August 2nd we took a day drive to Kansas City. Two months ago we had gone up to return some things I had bought in Minneapolis that needed to go back. We purchased a shoe rack... but when we got home realized there was no way it was fitting in the space we intended. So we drove back up to return it to Ikea and made a little trip out of it. Went to Ikea, waited in line to enter, returned the shoe rack did some more shopping. Then we drove downtown and picked up pizza at Menski's and went to a park for a picnic.

Then we did a quick driving tour before heading the 3 hours back home. Wanted to show the kids the birdie's out front of the Nelson Atkins Museum (currently closed due to covid)

Union Station's dinosaur was supporting it's mask :-)

Then we went on a hunt for this library (actually their parking garage) that is decorated like giant books. Took going to two libraries to find it.

Neighborhood Bike Rides

One day on the way home from somewhere we took a different route that brought us right up to our road but from across the street we normally turn down and we had an amazing view of our arch ways! Had to capture it cuz we don't normally see it like this!

One morning we went for a bike ride to Thomas's preschool to drop off some paperwork. Felt great to get out and ride.

Afternoon park with our neighbors, we drove to this one and had a picnic.

August 4th we went for another bike ride to my polling place so I could vote in the primary election. I left Thomas buckled in while I ran in to vote, kids did great waiting.

Then a couple days later Thomas and I rode back to his preschool for a quick tour. This will be his classroom come September.

He didn't want a photo taken.

Botanica Visit

I don't think I blogged this Friday morning Botanica visit. We made a trip just me and the kids on Friday July 24th.

$1 SnoCones in the kids garden.

I subbed a class last minute that evening (after having subbed a class that morning too, lol) Lots of calorie burning today.

We went for a drive out west until it was dark to see the stars and the comet that was flying. I think we saw it, it was pretty faint. But the kids had fun seeing the stars.

Thomas's Bang

Wednesday July 29th
Thomas took a fall off the piano bench while he was fiddling with the lamp that sits behind the bench on the radiator.

Of course it was a bloody one... as we weighed the chances of ... staples vs corona virus... we hated to go in for this. But having experience in the ER I knew it needed to be closed up, we'd closed up smaller things than this. I texted our neighbor (who is a pediatric ICU doc) and asked her if she had a recommendation for a pediatric friendly urgent care. She said to send a pic and she'd see if her husband (also a peds doc) thought it needed to be closed up - she was at work. She got back to me and said they both thought so but that he'd come over with supplies after picking some up at his clinic. So we got to dodge the corona virus exposure!!

Here are the before pics:

And the after.

We bandaged it up before bed so he wouldn't get the pillow all bloody. He was such a trooper he did great for the staples, of course he had his own personal child life specialist :-) he really didn't like the cold spray our friend's dad had Kyle spray on just before the staple placement.

This was the next day.

I ordered a steril staple remover off amazon and we took them out about day 8, his head is healing up great!

Day 9 or 10 and healing nicely:
