Emma wouldn't stop chewing on the little smiley face guy so I took him away... she wasn't too happy about that.

Splash Pad

Last Thursday morning we went to the splash pad. We have been taking every opportunity to enjoy this summer, probably due to not really having much of a summer last year. It's crazy to think that we are nearing the end of July, but looking back I am not at all feeling like we haven't been fully enjoying out Minnesota summer.

I haven't been capturing every splash pad trip or beach visit. But this day I made sure to throw my waterproof camera in and get some pics of the kids splashin'. I discovered the week before when we were here that Mary LOVES it and would just wonder freely all over the splash pad. Luckily it's fenced in and zero depth. I will jump at the opportunity to enjoy an activity where I don't feel like I'm constantly wrangling kiddos.

Emma was a little clingy this morning and typically likes to stay close. I think she's working on some more teeth, imagine that.

Penny Carnival

Last Friday we attended the St Louis Park penny carnival. It was so fun and also so hot!!! Isaac was really into the games and it was fun they were only a few pennies.

Isaac even participated in the hokey pokey!!

Mary cheered him on.

We met up with our good friends and Isaac went on a hayride with them while I stayed back with the girls. He loved it. It was a beautiful day but getting awfully warm.

Finishing our time off with the bounce house and obstacle course.

Once back in the van with the A/C blasting I watched a covert entrapment operation take place while nursing the girls. This guy in the black polo kept walking back and forth in the pedestrian walkway while two cops pulled people over who didn't stop. In the time I sat there they got two people. And had come back to sitting on the sidewalk doing it again. Tricky sonofabitches.

Later I saw on their Facebook page (yes I follow the police haha) they were doing a "crosswalk initiative". Seems kinda deceiving to me, this guy timing his walks while pretending to talk on his cell phone. When he was finished he hopped back into the cop car.

Pond Muck Nature Center June 8th

*** I just found this old post and it was listed as a draft. I guess it never posted***

I forgot to post the second "Nature for the very young" class we attended at the beginning of June.

We attended the birds class in May and this was the same kind of thing only we learned about frogs, turtles, ducks, and other pond animals.

Puppet show:

We went down to the pond and got to collect bugs and weeds. Then we came back and fed some of the bugs to a turtle. It was pretty cool watching the turtle chase and eat the water bugs. They had a camera set up so the kids could see it in the big tv.

Arboretum Day Visit (Lego part 2)

Last Thursday I took the kids on a trip to the Arboretum. We planned to check out the story time that takes place in their library on Thursday morning. Not too impressed, it was to start at 10:30, we arrived about 10:25 and the little old lady was already midway through a book. There was no seating where Isaac could see the book and the girls were tucked over behind a bookcase in their stroller. We stayed for the remainder of the book we entered in on and then halfway through another when Isaac decided he was not interested and would rather leave to go have our picnic. I agreed, so we snuck out and probably won't be returning.

We did however get to find the remaining three Lego sculptures (here are the first 10 we saw). Two of the three were inside so even if we searched last visit we wouldn't have been able to see them since the visitor's center was closed.

We happened upon the first in the conservatory:
#4 Giant Corn Spider ~ 16,492 Lego bricks

The next one was also inside and rather disappointing. I was expecting something bigger than this...

#3 Bonsai Tree ~ 9,143 Lego bricks

And lastly the dragonfly, which we saw before but didn't get a picture of it. We drove by it a few visits ago.

#11 Roseate Skimmer Dragonfly ~ 27,788 Lego bricks
