Alright back to posting, Shesh it's taking me a while to recap our summer vacay :-P
Starting on Thursday, this was our halfway, down time spot. It was a really nice campsite located in the middle of nowhere really, lol. But had an AMAZING bath house with showers and LAUNDRY! WOOHOO! and a pool. But as you saw in the previous post the kids didn't get to swim the first day due to a storm, but they did get to swim on this day.
I woke up early to try and capture some sunrise pics... however as mentioned before (and probably contributes to my delay in posting this a little grieving going on) I lost all my photos from my nice camera which I did mainly take sunrise photos with, but got this from my phone.
Kids started to wake up and we had breakfast outside. The weather was nice, not too hot.
Kyle and Mary went for a little hike up to the hill.
Shoe hack for the RV, picked up this bucket at wal-mart. (not typically a wal-mart shopper but in the middle of nowhere that was our only option.) So many shoes at the door of the RV. (and a pic of the glorious laundry! in the air conditioned bath house!)
The morning felt long. The kids were up 5 hours before the pool opened. But they did get to swim!
After some relaxation time we went into town to see the Glen Canyon Dam, which also sits on the Colorado River (like the Hoover Dam)
Then we went out to eat, which was amazing and headed back to camp for some swimming after a little rain.
Double rainbow!
The following morning was a travel day to the North Rim. Kyle and I went for a little hike before leaving the Page campsite.
Loaded back up and on the road.
Fun to watch the terrain change. Kids getting some much needed rest in.
The North Rim was spectacular! We loved it! We only had one night planned here, it was a no-hook up campsite so we weren't sure how that would work with the RV. Like fridge, bathroom, etc... but now we know it was great fridge works on propane all the time and they had an area to fill up the water tank and drain the grey/black tanks so we could have stayed longer. this was probably our FAVORITE campsite!
We had lunch as soon as we arrived before driving to the campsite. The weather was much cooler and the pines smelled amazing.
We stayed parked in the lot and did a little hike through the lodge and out toward Bright Angel Point. The trail all the way out was closed but these views were still amazing.
Since we were only here one night we made the most of our time and got out on a trail quickly. There was a lot of the North Rim National Park we couldn't access because of our RV, you needed a smaller vehicle to drive down any other road than the main one.
The ponderosa pines have a unique smell, could be said it smells like coffee creamer, or hazelnut, it was amazing.
Last trail to take us back to our RV at the main parking lot where we also viewed the Visitor Center. Time to check in to our campsite.
We walked down to the amphitheater to hear a ranger talk, that was fun. A little scavenger hunt.
Then chilling at our site.
The lights you see at the bottom of this first photos are the lights across the canyon at Grand Canyon Village at the south rim.
