North Rim & Zion {Grand Canyon RV Trip: Day 7} June 29

A little recap from last post:

Morning games before packing up and heading out on a hiking trail.

Our North Rim hike was of the North Kaibab (kyh-bab). We thought this was appropriate since our South Rim hike we did the south kaibab trail, if we were to take them all the way down and up they'd connect.

Our turnaround point was the coconino overlook.

Pretty easy going down, the work was going up. Like they say "Going down is optional, coming up is mandatory" We enjoyed the views and had some snacks.

The horses or mules go down to the campsite and back up. Would be nice to hitch a ride with those.

On our way back up a man was finishing up his RUN of going there and back at in one go. He was looking pretty rough, but he made it! And super inspiring and motivated me and Kyle to have the itch to one day hike from rim to rim (I don't need to run it).

Time to head to our next spot! On the road again. Driving back through the Kaibab Forest as we left the north rim.

These were fun to look at, my logged hikes from the North and the South Kaibab trails.

Made it to Utah! New state for me!! Number 45. Only 5 to go.

RV Views.

Next stop, and final camp spot in the RV was ZION. We hit a grocery store when we got to town then drove right to our campsite. it was HOT!

Our spot was pretty amazing, with amazing views of watchman's point or whatever it's called. But we had no shade and it was hot and our A/C was running nonstop.

We wanted to do a little exploring so walked to the visitor center to catch the shuttle. We rode it all the way to the end of the line, which brought us to the famous trail called the Narrows.

Shuttle views:

It's about a 1 mile hike on this trail to the start of the narrows.

This is where the Narrows start, you walk in water until the rocks get so close together. We did not do any water walking on this day (we did come back)

Took the shuttle back to the visitor center then walked to our campsite to get dinner going.

We did attend a ranger talk that evening, walking back to the site at dark. Temp was a little better when the sun went down but still HOT!

Had to get views of the night sky of course.

Pretty cool how the light from camp lit up the rock. You can see the Milky Way hiding behind Watchman point.

I stayed up to capture it better.

Pretty amazing how it moves across the night sky.
